Lexio

Learn English from the content you actually read — your articles, your books, subtitles from videos you watch — instead of someone else's word lists.

How it works

You read a text inside the app and tap any word you don't know. It goes into your deck with the sentence it came from, because context is most of what makes a word stick. From there the word comes back on a spaced-repetition schedule (FSRS): first just to recognise, then as a gap in a sentence, then typed from the translation, and finally by ear. A word you can read but can't hear or produce isn't learned yet, and the app treats it that way.

What's in it

Works offline

The dictionary, the book shelf and your whole deck live on the device. On a plane or in a metro tunnel the app behaves exactly as it does at home. It needs the network only to fetch something new: subtitles, a podcast episode or a book you asked for.
